The beauty of interactions
"CO-" is an interactive exhibit that demonstrates the beauty of collaboration and encourages participants to form new connections
This is the senior thesis project my teammates and I worked on during our final year at the Rochester Institute of Technology.
How does it work?
Participants use our wearable tech "hand-bands" to fist bump with other participants and form "connections". The new "connections" appear as abstract and colorful projections around the exhibit room. When all the hand-bands come in contact with one another and the greatest number of connections are made, the projection rewards the participants with the grandest visual payoff.
What was my role?
I was the lead motion designer and illustrator for this project. My responsibilities included creating the design language, the logo, the final state animation, and the vector graphics for the final webpage.
How did COVID-19 change things?
Our final project was supposed to be displayed at the Imagine RIT 2020 festival. Unfortunately, Due to COVID-19, the festival was cancelled and our team was forced to pivot. We had 3 weeks to turn our project and 3 months worth of work into a digital / online experience. It was the greatest design and development challenge we all had ever faced, but we took it in stride. We adapted to the changes, and learned to work differently. Our communication took some new forms, but stayed strong and effective throughout. Take a look:
What Award did "Co-" win?
The final "Co-" thesis project was chosen out of hundreds of submissions as a featured finalist for the Applied Arts Magazine. See our certificate and project on display here!

Our team banded together and worked tirelessly to create this wonderful virtual experience for your entertainment.

Enjoy!
